About this festival
The Women+Film Festival is Denver Film’s longest-running spotlight festival, dedicated to films by and about women — but open to everyone. It grew out of a panel at the 2006 Denver Film Festival, founded by Barbara Bridges on the conviction that Denver Film should support women filmmakers, and expanded into a year-round program alongside the annual festival at the Sie FilmCenter. Each edition screens more than a dozen features, shorts, and documentaries celebrating female filmmakers behind the camera and the stories of women on screen, paired with filmmaker conversations and events supporting local talent. A signature element is the Barbara Bridges Inspiration Award, presented at a benefit luncheon — honoring Julia Stiles in 2025.
