Durango Independent Film Festival

The Durango Independent Film Festival brings independent cinema to the Four Corners each March, founded in 2005 by staff from an earlier festival that had folded. For more than two decades it has united filmmakers and audiences in an intimate mountain-town setting, screening global, innovative, and diverse work along the Animas River in southwest Colorado. The five-day festival is deliberately filmmaker-centric — selected directors get lodging, two screenings with Q&As, and access to a private filmmakers’ lounge — and its programming embraces every genre, with standing spotlights on Native Cinema, adventure, family, and LGBTQ+ films. Through its parent organization Durango Film, DIFF also operates the Four Corners Film Office, supporting production across the region, and runs a REEL Learning school program that brings independent film to thousands of students.
