About this festival
The Ouray International Film Festival is an intimate, jury-selected showcase of independent cinema set in the dramatic box canyon of Ouray, founded in 2020 and held each June at the historic Wright Opera House, with outdoor screenings in Fellin Park. It invites artists and movie lovers for a weekend of jury-selected films, panel discussions, parties, and mountain views, and prides itself on bringing films from across the U.S. and around the globe — material audiences are unlikely to find on streaming platforms or in theaters. Between screenings, the festival leans into its setting: scenic hikes and Ouray’s natural hot springs are part of the experience. OIFF also presents its Film in Action Award and runs the Ouray Film Sabbatical, a residency program for filmmakers.
