Sundance 2027 ticket packages go on sale today at 10 a.m. MT. Compare prices and events for the festival's Boulder debut.

The first Sundance Film Festival in Boulder is still three months away, but movie fans can begin securing their seats today.

Passes and ticket packages for the 2027 Sundance Film Festival go on sale today, Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. Mountain Time, offering audiences their first opportunity to purchase access to the festival’s historic Colorado debut, running Jan. 21-31.

Prices start at $45 for an online short films pass, with in-person ticket packages ranging from $275 for eligible students and younger moviegoers to $925 for a full-festival package. Several new options aim to make the festival more accessible to audiences with different budgets and schedules.

There’s one important distinction: Individual film tickets aren’t going on sale today. Those won’t be available until Jan. 8, 2027, after Sundance announces its lineup in December.

But for audiences eager to experience the festival’s first Colorado edition, here’s what to know before purchasing.

What do Sundance 2027 tickets cost?

Sundance offers two primary ways to attend: passes and ticket packages. A festival pass provides unlimited access to eligible screenings and Offscreen programs during a specified period, with priority admission. Passholders don’t need to reserve individual screenings in advance.

Ticket packages, meanwhile, include 10 screening tickets that attendees can assign to specific films once the schedule becomes available. Those tickets are transferable, allowing purchasers to share them with friends or family.

The biggest advantage of buying a package now is early access to screening selection. Public package holders can begin selecting their films Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. Mountain Time, one day before single-film tickets go on sale. Package holders can also change their selections up to four hours before a screening begins.

Here are the in-person options available for the 2027 festival:

Ignite (ages 18-25 or students)$275Jan. 24-31
Matinee Package$350Jan. 25-29
Second Half Package$450Jan. 27-31
Encore Package$675Jan. 22-31
Full Festival Package$925Jan. 21-31
Second Half Express Pass$4,500Jan. 27-31

Each ticket package includes 10 in-person screenings, while the Second Half Express Pass provides unlimited eligible screenings and priority entry. The Ignite Package also includes five online film tickets.

The Full Festival Express Pass, priced at $7,500, and First Half Express Pass, priced at $6,100, are premium options available to qualifying major donors and members of Sundance’s donor circles.

For viewers who prefer watching from home, Sundance is also offering several online options:

Online optionPrice
Short Films Pass$45
Online Festival Bundle$60
Online Ticket Package$350
Online Festival Pass$825

The online festival runs Jan. 28-31. The $45 pass provides access to a curated collection of short films, while the $60 bundle adds one online feature or episodic screening. The $825 Online Festival Pass offers access to the festival’s online program, with one viewing per film.

Tickets and packages can be purchased through Sundance’s official ticketing website.

Which Sundance ticket package should you buy?

For Colorado residents who want to experience Sundance without spending nearly $1,000, two new options stand out.

The Matinee Ticket Package, priced at $350, provides 10 tickets to screenings beginning before 5 p.m. between Jan. 25 and 29. At $35 per screening, it’s the most affordable general-public in-person package, although its weekday and daytime restrictions make it better suited to moviegoers with flexible schedules.

The Encore Ticket Package, priced at $675, offers a wider viewing window from Jan. 22-31. It excludes each film’s initial screening, meaning purchasers won’t be attending world premieres, but it provides considerably more scheduling flexibility than the Matinee Package.

Those who want to be among the first audiences to see newly unveiled films should consider the Full Festival Ticket Package. Its $925 price includes 10 screenings across all 11 days, including access to select premieres and their accompanying filmmaker Q&As. Premiere screenings are scheduled for Jan. 21-26.

The Second Half Ticket Package, priced at $450, offers another compromise. It’s valid Jan. 27-31, when festival award winners will be announced and additional screenings of popular selections will take place.

Younger audiences and students have an especially appealing option. The $275 Ignite Ticket Package, presented by Adobe, is available to moviegoers ages 18-25 and enrolled students of any age. It includes 10 in-person tickets and five online tickets, making it the lowest-priced in-person package for eligible purchasers.

Of course, there’s no requirement to buy a package to attend Sundance. Moviegoers interested in seeing only one or two films can wait until individual tickets become available in January.

When do individual Sundance tickets go on sale?

The festival’s film lineup will be announced in December, giving audiences their first look at which premieres, documentaries, international films and shorts will screen in Boulder.

Package holders can select their screenings beginning Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. Mountain Time, followed by public single-film ticket sales on Jan. 8. Tickets to individual screenings will cost $37.

The festival’s in-person programming runs Jan. 21-31, while online screenings are available Jan. 28-31.
