Breck Film is a Breckenridge-based nonprofit dedicated to curating year-round film experiences for the mountain community. Founded more than four decades ago as the Breckenridge Festival of Film, the organization has grown into a multi-program arts institution serving Summit County and the surrounding high country.
At the center of its calendar is the Breck Film Festival, a filmmaker-focused event held each fall in Breckenridge. The festival has earned a reputation among independent filmmakers for its hospitality, programming, and advocacy — often described as a “filmmakers’ festival” for the support it provides to visiting directors.
In 2021, Breck Film took over operations of the Eclipse Theater, Breckenridge’s independent cinema. The theater programs a mix of major releases and independent films, hosts special events, and serves as the organization’s year-round home. The Eclipse offers beer and wine on tap and is available for private screenings and rentals.
Breck Film also runs a Breck Film Society membership program, a Classics Club, monthly film society screenings, and a growing education and outreach slate. Youth programming includes a partnership with Keystone Science School’s Girls in STEM initiative, the Best in the US High School Shorts competition, and free children’s screenings.
Breck Film stated mission: curating unique, year-round film experiences that entertain and enrich the lives of its mountain community.
