About this festival
Aspen Filmfest is Aspen Film’s flagship fall festival, founded in 1979 and held each September at the historic Isis Theatre in downtown Aspen. The non-competitive festival presents a tightly curated slate of invited films — a mix of features and documentaries — drawn from the year’s most notable festival premieres at Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, Toronto, Venice, and beyond. Rather than chase volume, Filmfest programs roughly 15 to 16 titles over six days, anchored by filmmaker Q&As and panel conversations that are among the festival’s biggest draws. The 2025 edition spanned 10 features and six documentaries, opening with Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia and closing with Bill Condon’s Kiss of the Spider Woman. It’s the feature-film counterpart to Aspen Film’s spring Shortsfest.
