About this festival
The Boulder International Film Festival is one of Colorado’s flagship film events, founded in 2005 by documentary-filmmaker sisters Robin and Kathy Beeck and now in its third decade. BIFF draws more than 25,000 attendees annually for a slate that ranges from indie productions to award-winning work by established filmmakers, with films competing for its Grand Jury Prize and People’s Choice Awards. The four-day festival is as much an event as a screening series, pairing premieres with celebrity tributes, filmmaker Q&As, the signature CineCHEF food competition, a singer-songwriter showcase, and its community-minded Call2Action program. With Sundance relocating to Boulder in January 2027, BIFF anchors the city’s emergence as a major hub for film festivals.
