About this festival
The Go West Film Festival is Colorado’s celebration of the Western — founded in 2014 in Greeley, the city named for newspaperman Horace Greeley, whose “Go West, young man” gives the festival its name. It rides the full range of the genre, from early classics to contemporary features and documentaries about the modern West, screening across downtown Greeley at the Kress Cinema & Lounge and the LINC Library Innovation Center. Its stated mission is to explore the social and environmental issues facing the West through classic and contemporary Western film, examining the gap between Western myth and reality. The week-long festival is free to attend and pairs its programmed slate with filmmaker conversations and an audience-judged Shorts Showcase competition.
