The Colorado Environmental Film Festival is the premier environmental film festival between the coasts, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026. Held annually in Golden at the Colorado School of Mines Green Center, CEFF showcases the power of film to inspire environmental stewardship through thought-provoking documentaries and narratives from around the globe.
Founded by environmentally-minded educators, filmmakers, and supporters, CEFF is Colorado’s first and only international film festival hyper-focused on environmental themes. The three-day February festival screens over 60 films including features, shorts, Colorado stories, and youth-made productions, featuring world premieres, U.S. premieres, and Colorado premieres from filmmakers representing more than a dozen countries.
Programming celebrates the resilience of human spirit, natural world beauty and fragility, indigenous knowledge and leadership, and sustainable future choices. Events include filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, and the popular Eco-Expo featuring environmentally conscious brands and organizations. Special programming ensures family-friendly accessibility with open captions and subtitles available.
The festival extends its impact through eight days of online programming following in-person events, making films accessible nationally and internationally. CEFF fosters community connection through environmental storytelling, sparking essential conversations that empower individuals and communities to take action for planetary protection.
Rooted in Colorado’s spirit of curiosity, stewardship, and community, CEFF brings together people of all ages who value the natural world and believe in film’s power to ignite meaningful environmental change.
