The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival is North America’s longest-running women’s film festival, held annually in Colorado Springs since 1988. Celebrating its 39th anniversary in 2026, RMWFF honors films and filmmakers that present the world as women experience it, showcasing documentary, narrative, short, and animated films that encourage global awareness and personal growth.
The three-day October festival features thought-provoking programming that celebrates women’s voices both behind and in front of the camera. Events include film screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, panels, workshops, opening and closing night receptions, and an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding achievements. The festival creates space for meaningful dialogue about women’s experiences, empowerment, and diverse perspectives.
RMWFF operates year-round programming in partnership with community organizations, providing free screenings from the Madelyn Osur Film Library to expose diverse audiences to entertaining and educational films. The organization emphasizes building community around film while elevating women’s stories and creators.
Located in Colorado Springs near Pikes Peak, the festival takes place at venues throughout the city, maintaining an intimate atmosphere that encourages filmmaker-audience interaction. The festival accepts submissions from February through May, focusing on films created by women or exploring women’s themes. RMWFF continues its nearly four-decade mission of expanding consciousness and celebrating women’s creativity, drive, and diversity through the power of cinema.
