Rocky Mountain Women’s Film has released the lineup for its 2026 Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival, which runs in person Oct. 16-18 at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. A Virtual Encore follows Oct. 22-25, with many titles from the in-person lineup available to stream at home.

The 42-film slate mixes feature documentaries, narrative shorts and animation. Sports stories include Rapinoe, Rebeca Hunt’s portrait of soccer star Megan Rapinoe; Reggae Girlz, from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton, following the Jamaican women’s national team to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup; Cheyenne, Taimi Arvidson’s documentary on women’s bronc riding; and Panther Pat, about a schoolteacher who broke professional football’s gender barrier in 1970.

Several films center on journalism and politics. Seized, directed by Sharon Liese, examines the 2023 police raid on the Marion County Record in Kansas. Steal This Story, Please, from Tia Lessin and Carl Deal, profiles Amy Goodman. Chase Joynt’s State of Firsts follows Sarah McBride’s campaign to become the first transgender member of Congress, and Emily Harrold’s Tampons & Taxes tracks the women of the South Carolina Senate fighting a state tax on menstrual products.

Other titles include Dawn Porter’s When a Witness Recants, made with Ta-Nehisi Coates, about the Harlem Park Three; Yoruba Richen’s Free Joan Little; Sasha Waters’ Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World; and Judd Ehrlich’s Jane Elliott Against the World. Norheimsund, a short from Ana A. Alpizar, arrives after screenings at the Venice Film Festival and Sundance 2026.

  • Black Zombie — Maya Annik Bedward. The zombie’s path from Haitian spiritual tradition to Hollywood horror.
  • Blood & Guts — Carlye Rubin and Katie Green; co-directed by Tina Grapenthin. A family of independent horror filmmakers makes one last film together.
  • Boobs — Nicola Leddy. An Irish artist paints 100 nude breast portraits from a female perspective.
  • Cheyenne — Taimi Arvidson. Women bronc riders compete for a world title at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
  • Comparsa — Vickie Curtis and Doug Anderson. Two Guatemalan sisters use street performance to confront violence against women.
  • Eructation — Victoria Trow. A woman sets out to break the world record for loudest female burp.
  • Far From Home — Kristi Tethong. A Tibetan family’s archives reveal a love story tied to the fight for a homeland.
  • Finding Our Voices — Maggie Hartmans and Brittany Hart. Survivors of sexual abuse turn to art to heal.
  • Free Joan Little — Yoruba Richen. The landmark 1975 trial of a woman acquitted for killing a guard who assaulted her.
  • Jane Elliott Against the World — Judd Ehrlich. The Iowa teacher behind a famous 1968 classroom lesson on discrimination.
  • Liminal — Brennan Vance. Wounded Ukrainian soldiers come to the U.S. for rehabilitation before returning to fight.
  • Lost & Found — Wiktoria Kwoka. A teenage burglar interrupts an elderly man in crisis.
  • Love Apptually — Shalini Kantayya. A French journalist investigates how dating-app algorithms shape romance.
  • Marga en el DF — Gabriela Ortega. A pregnant woman’s visit to Mexico City takes an unexpected turn.
  • Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World — Sasha Waters. A documentary on the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet.
  • Modern Whore — Nicole Bazuin. A hybrid documentary drawn from Andrea Werhun’s memoir of sex work.
