About this festival

Founded by Robert Redford in 1985, the Sundance Film Festival is the largest gathering of independent storytellers and audiences in the United States — a launching pad for filmmakers from Steven Soderbergh to Jordan Peele, and the festival that introduced Reservoir Dogs, Get Out, Whiplash, Little Miss Sunshine, and hundreds of other films to the world. After more than four decades in Park City, Utah, Sundance moves to Boulder beginning January 2027, anchored by venues across the city and the CU Boulder campus — among them the Boulder Theater, Chautauqua Auditorium, the Dairy Arts Center, eTown Hall, and Cinemark Century Boulder. The move marks the most significant arrival in Colorado’s film history.
