The Denver-raised actor will appear in person May 15 for a 35mm double feature of Foxy Brown and Jackie Brown.

Alamo Drafthouse will rename its Littleton location the Pam Grier Cinema on Friday, May 15, with Grier on hand for a one-night celebration anchored by a 35mm double feature of Foxy Brown (1974) and Jackie Brown (1997).

Grier, a graduate of Denver East High School, joins an Alamo naming roster that includes Spike Lee, John Hughes, Ivan Reitman and Bong Joon Ho. The Littleton theater was the chain’s first Colorado location when it opened in March 2013; its grand-opening event was a Grier retrospective.

“Alamo Drafthouse Cinema intentionally creates an emotional and sensory cinematic journey — one that invites us to pause, stop the clock, and let time come to us,” Grier said in the announcement. “Experiencing that in my hometown of Denver makes it all the more meaningful.”

Between films, Grier will sit for a longform onstage conversation with Nina Henderson Moore, president of Griot Productions and former chief content officer at Free Speech TV. Alamo says encore 35mm screenings of both titles are planned at the renamed cinema later this summer, and commemorative Pam Grier Cinema merchandise will be available at AlamoMart.com.

Grier broke through in the early 1970s with roles in The Big Doll House, Coffy, Foxy Brown and Sheba, Baby, and returned to leading-role status in 1997 with Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown. She has earned Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and NAACP Image Award nominations over the course of her career.

The Littleton theater, at 7301 S. Santa Fe Drive in Aspen Grove, received Barco HDR projection and Dolby Atmos sound upgrades over the past year.
